Net metering policy adopted by Albany Board of Aldermen

The City of Albany Board of Aldermen held their regular meeting earlier in the week where an ordinance to adopt a net metering policy was unanimously passed.

City Administrator, Derek Brown, says the most common application of the policy would be if someone were to put a solar panel on their roof or back yard.

"They connect that to not only to their house, but our electric distribution systems.  So when they are not using as much power as their solar panels, for example, are producing.  They can put that back out on our system.  We just adopted a policy that governs not only the inner connection, but also that transaction when they do put energy out on our distribution system."

A motion was passed to approve Marsh, Espey, and Merrill to conduct the city's 2019 fiscal audit as well as a single audit for the waste water treatment plant project.

The next regular meeting will be held October 15th at 5 pm.
